Chattanooga-based songstress Anna Baldree has a knack for indie rock and dream pop, but that wasn’t always the case.

Raised on a diet of church hymns and Disney pop, Anna knew she loved music from an early age, but it wasn’t until she picked up a guitar at 15 that she began to develop her passion. When she finally outgrew her Disney phase, she turned to the likes of Nirvana and My Bloody Valentine and wrote her very first song. Drawing on influences such as Mazzy Star, The Cranberries, Radiohead, as well as contemporaries like The 1975, Phoebe Bridgers, and Soccer Mommy, Anna now juxtaposes catchy, ethereal melodies with melancholy lyricism. Her debut single “Try Again” is one such example, contrasting an infectious hook with vacillating feelings of alienation. Her follow-up single, “Final Girl,” showcases her attention to detail in songwriting. Both singles will be featured on her upcoming debut album, out in 2022.
